They're not having a serious conversation about safety, they lack basic riding competency and they want rules and infrastructure that accommodates that.

I think about the "it's safer if I go faster" people in ebike forums that are riding these crazy 30-60mph contraptions. Like sure there's an argument about keeping up with traffic, but scroll down and you'll see the same person talking how tired don't matter, and skidding to stop every time.

I know what you mean but this still feels like a skill issue in the context of a discussion about speed limits and transport policy. I learned to drive in a large diesel BMW that hated 30mph for the same reasons, so I just put the time into mastering it.

When the guy isn't doing what you want, the solution is hiring another guy to shout at him obviously.

Experimentation is when you start with a hypothesis and work to test it, this is just having fun.

There's no stronger acolyte for capitalist realism than self-identified socialists who haven't learned any of the economics. "Capitalism contains the seeds of it's own demise" includes it being a bad way to run the economy entirely on its own terms.

It's my tool, I'm from Dundee and I wasn't expecting to see Wullie pop up on it lmao.

Now go look at what json.dumps() does with a NaN value

Yeah I moved here a few years ago. Things are much better than the UK but it's also deja vu to the UK in the 2000s. All the same causative factors, the rot just hasn't fully set in yet.

In benchmarks Qwen3-Coder is scoring similarly to GPT-5 Mini, GPT 4.1 and Gemini 2.5 Pro, but you can just download and run it on <$10k of hardware.
November 16, 2025 at 1:55 PM
I've been poking at Qwen3, Kimi and a few other open source chinese models in the context of running them locally on your own hardware. They're still behind OpenAI/Anthropic/Google, but not anywhere as much as you'd imagine given the difference in money spent on them.

Hey thanks for trying it out, there was a small teething issue I just fixed!

You can now unroll any thread with ThreadSky just by mentioning it now, just like this. Hey @tbsky.app .

They're called "shotgun" microphones.
November 5, 2025 at 10:22 PM
What kind of stuff are you looking to speed up?
November 3, 2025 at 1:03 AM
No worries then :D The way you were talking about it just sounded so much like the "reasonable concerns" planning deregulation types here in Europe lol.
October 30, 2025 at 3:37 PM
Fair enough. That just strikes me as a lack of state capacity rather than an excessive planning process I guess. There's just a much longer tail of poor electrical safety in the US, so checks that would get "yeah duh" to an Australian planning office are more reasonable there. E.g. Aluminium wiring.
October 30, 2025 at 3:26 PM
I get it if the process sucks, maybe the planning office should be better funded or a licensed engineer could sign off on it, but most of this is information you should just have in a filing cabinet anyway.
October 30, 2025 at 3:01 PM
I'm genuinely asking, what "vague requested changes" would you get here? Every single piece of information requested has realistic practical safety concerns if it's wrong. "Will your wires melt under max load" and "will it get ripped off the roof during strong winds" aren't undotted i's.
