I adore sandhill cranes. There was a small family of them at the high school I attended in Florida, and for the most part that family was adored.

Every once in a while I think about these books, but this is the first time I've thought about them in a couple years. It brought a smile to my face. 😃

I have to admit I was relieved to see the "metaphorically" added in there. I'm still recovering from witnessing widespread arson a few years ago, and people talking about burning things down can set me on edge when the context isn't super clear.
