Oh dude, yeah. These games fall apart for me when the loot is totally separated from what you can *see* they have. There's game design reasons why that might be the case, but that doesn't make it compelling.

I think that's fair!
From what i've seen, it seems much harder to like, make modding culture spring up around modern AAA games, due to the increase of fidelity and all that. The main reason a game like morrowind has SO much is because it's a lot easier to create assets on par with the original game.

Given the recent output from bethesda, it's become extremely hard to be any amount of excited for TES 6, it's exciting as an abstract, but the second any amount of the reality of bethesda is applied, it's pretty clear it's gonna be pretty fuckin' terrible

If you're still early in, that's probably adaptability/ADP at work, when you don't have enough points in it, it slows down animations, rolls, attacks, and makes the game feel pretty sluggish.
The upside is that it *does* smoothen out later on if you do put your points into it.
