🚨 Take action now🚨

We think the vote is happening THIS WEEK.

Congress wants to undo local legislation, cost DC $700M, & overturn our efforts to cut child poverty. Call these Senators and tell them to VOTE NO ON S.J.RES.102.

From Ward 7 to Ward 5, my favorite part about campaigning so far has been the opportunity to meet people who are concerned about our city and who work to improve it.

We wanted to know: How would those currently running for D.C. office have handled the recent snowstorm differently?

What @janeese4dc.bsky.social, @aparnafordc.bsky.social, @miguelfordc.bsky.social, @candacefor202.bsky.social, @elissasilverman.bsky.social, and others told @maustermuhle.bsky.social:
Candidates weigh in on D.C.'s snowstorm response
It’s easy to critique how the city fared after the storm, but what would they have done differently?

I will not be a Councilmember who just talks about labor. I’m a union member's kid, who also carried an AFGE Local 1000 card. Workers aren't a box to check.

Ahead of what could be another storm hitting our city this coming weekend, I want to say: It’s easy to punch down.

We’ve heard from the executive, and from current members of the DC Council trying to make sense of the response to the post-snowstorm cleanup.

For more than three decades, @eleanornorton.bsky.social has been an unwavering voice for the people of the District of Columbia. She’s fought for statehood, home rule, and the fundamental principle that D.C. residents deserve full representation in our democracy.

I can’t say how disheartened I am to hear another person was killed by ICE. We must continue to speak against the federal overreach in MN & here in DC.

Let’s keep Alex Pretti’s family & loved ones in our prayers. May god give them the comfort & strength they need.
Alex from our time working together, while he was in nursing school. Later, he moved to ICU, working as a nurse to support critically ill Veterans. He had such a great attitude. We’d chat between patients about trying to get in a mountain bike ride together. Will never happen now

We stand in solidarity with the people of Minneapolis, where an ICE agent killed an unarmed legal observer.

Communities everywhere are less safe when ICE and federal agents are deployed recklessly into our neighborhoods.

The federal attacks on US cities must end immediately.

What happened five years ago today is a reminder of the delicate nature of our democracy. For us, as D.C. residents, it highlights the stakes of continued Home Rule and how deeply important statehood is for us and the future of our country.

This outcome fortifies our local democracy and keeps the will of the people in place. As a candidate, I’m happy to move forward with RCV.
NEWS: The D.C. Council has rejected a bill that would have delayed the rollout of ranked-choice voting next year, both for the June primary and November general. RCV is now a go.

Only votes for the bill came from Bonds, Felder, McDuffie, Mendelson, and Trayon White.

DC residents pay the highest taxes per capita in the nation, yet we remain beholden to federal control in ways our neighboring states do not.

Our limited autonomy continues to face attacks from Congress, the courts, and from those who seek to stop our local governance.
