That’s what I think too! After everything those Afghan nationals did for the U.S. over there, to not even be allowed to remain in this country legally is just brutal! This guy could have been very angry, afraid of being sent back, or have had a psychotic break.

Totally agree with you - it’s ridiculous! If you are here in the U.S. “legally”, meaning on any valid visa, TPS, or are a permanent resident, & you haven’t committed a crime or anything, then there is zero reason to detain or deport you - full stop! 😡

It isn’t only a financial thing either - becoming a US citizen isn’t always the goal - people transferred to the U.S. for their career for example may wish to go home someday.
Some countries don’t allow dual citizenship - not everyone wants to give up citizenship of their home country . . . 🤷♀️
