Strawberry seedling #smol
A tiny seedling in bark compost. It has two teeny round seed leaves, and its first two proper strawberry leaves have just sprouted.

A surprisingly large pavement plant.
A vigorous plant, about a foot and a half high, growing out of a crack in the pavement. It has small bright pink flowers.

A tiny poppy popping out from under a hedge
A small poppy of some sort, with bright red leaves and a star-shaped green pistil (inner part) surrounded by tiny stamens. It is growing via an impossible thin green stem from underneath a hedge.

Begonia shoot.

The shoot is about an inch tall, shot from extremely close using a 50mm security camera lens held in front of my phone camera.

Road sign

Isn't it interesting how the lichen mostly only grows around the edges of the letters? I wonder if they're peeling slightly and somehow that creates a more hospitable environment? Or maybe whether the slightly raised letters gather a tiny bit of dew at their edges?
A (slightly blurry) zoomed in photo of a white road sign saying "enic / A70" - the full thing is "Penicuik / (A701)". Around the edges of the large black letters, fingernail-sized spots of grey lichen have started to grow, some of which have joined up into lines that follow the curves of the letter.

Strawberry ❤️
A piece of old railway rail sits on some industrial waste ground. A tiny wild strawberry plant has grown up through a hole in the rail - it has six leaves and one teeny strawberry. It is extremely cute.

An unusual vase.
A circular slab of concrete about a foot across sits on some industrial waste land. In the middle of the slab is a small white PVC pipe that has been cut flush to the concrete. A small plant with red-tipped leaves has grown up through the pipe into the sunlight, rendering the slab and pipe as a rather unusual vase.
