Also let’s throw in some of these headlines; US Navy Veteran, former NASA Astronaut and current United States Senator Mark Kelly.

I thought these folks were all about respecting our veterans? Oh only if you agree with them, got it.

Our leaves are pretty much soaking wet from the moment they fall on the ground then they get covered in snow and disintegrate, but even when not would seem like fences, decking, dry grass etc would represent a similar or more substantial fire risk. The most I do is running a lawnmower over them

I honestly do not understand why people are so obsessed with getting rid of all of the leaves in the yard - I do not touch them and assume they work their way into the soil after winter or whatever

I also realized that what I said here also is not correct because I had forgotten that high school is “secondary” education and I had to search to figure out that the correct term here I guess would be “post-secondary education” which is quite a way around to saying “tertiary”

I wasn’t implying it wasn’t valid or was incorrect - only that, like lots of examples here, it doesn’t sound “normal” here because it isn’t something generally said in the United States

That is a good point though I’d for sure hear “I’m going to college” to mean “I’m pursuing secondary education”

this really made me think

“I need to go to the hospital” - it doesn’t matter which one I’m talking about because it’s shorthand for “I’m having a medical emergency”

Similarly - I would never hear “I’m going to university” without the name mentioned but ‘I’m going to a university’ would be ‘normal’

Some incredible details in this piece
*one DOGE faction was planning the future of the US government at a venture capital firm
*illegally communicating on Signal to avoid transparency laws was deeply embedded into organizational culture to be taken for granted

💯 - “I care deeply when others find fault in me but deflect genuine praise” is like the opposite of narcissism as I would understand it.

Figured narcissists would never accept criticism of themselves and have no introspection.

Seems like people just say stuff now regardless of its meaning

Love that he comes up with the absolute dumbest possible analogy as if people are choosing to live near fire hydrants … for the insurance savings

If I live near a farm do I get a discount for being in the vicinity of vegetables?

Forbes looks like they’re saving money on proofreaders or editors for the headlines

I get what you’re saying here - but I will say in my area this is not a common thing to say and I work in power generation

Same guy who said we can solve AI power problems with a Dyson sphere - glad these are the ‘thought leaders’ of our society

Keep seeing responses to this development that even pointing out that MTG breaking from Trump may be a good thing for our politics overall and then the immediate conclusion some people are drawing is that “some left leaning people now want to support and praise her” - which is not happening

I mean - there are for sure human artists who may blur the line between “inspired by” and reproducing others work

I just feel like without the training material of everything that has already day been created - what would LLMs ‘create’?

Humans of every era have created art regardless of culture
November 17, 2025 at 10:49 PM
I think the difference is that a LLM has no possible way to add its own distinct personality or nuance to a piece of art

Humans can be inspired by the work of others to influence their own style. LLMs do not have a style, they are only capable of consuming and modifying/combining others work

I mean, they’re both terrible but like I think we are allowed to enjoy a few moments of light in the never ending darkness when it looks like the con is finally starting to fall apart

Nobody is saying ignore everything they’ve done for years, but we can still enjoy a positive sign
