GM Tip: Players will inevitably use knowledge their characters don't have. When it happens, just ask, "How does your character know that?" Usually they'll self-correct or come up with a reasonable explanation. So be collaborative about it, not adversarial.

When you start building a campaign world, what do you build first?

A) Pantheon/religion
B) Geography/map
C) Core conflict(s)
D) Something else

What works for you and why?

How long do your campaigns typically last? And how long would you want them to last if scheduling wasn't a factor?

If you like political intrigue in your TTRPGs I'd recommend The Devil City and its 77 Vicious Princes! It revolves around the city of Zarkany. Princes have blood patents that make them immune to laws. Devils are used as fuel in the industrial burners. Schmooze and backstab your way to the top.

What are your favorite TTRPG systems outside of D&D and Pathfinder? I've been looking for a strange and new setting to explore.

Do you prefer games with high stakes?

I love when players make suboptimal choices because it's what their character would do. For me as a player, facing the final death saving throw when everything hangs on one roll is one of my most exhilarating moments at the table.

One thing I obsessed over building: visual relationship maps.

Seeing your world's connections at a glance changes how you prep.

Tired of campaign notes scattered across five different apps?

I'm building Campaign Grimoire - a campaign manager for how GMs actually think. NPCs with motivations and secrets. Factions with goals and rivalries. Everything connected.

Happy to chat with fellow worldbuilders.
