On my LinkedIn thread, we've also been talking about the ethics of AI. Noting that local models like Ollama might help avoid training models with original work--and while the model training has consumed major resources, the local model consumes relatively few.

I totally see your point. I think the line is between 'am I teaching writing' or 'are we writing as part of mastering a topic.' So, in this case, 'writing-focused' might be a misnomer. In this case, writing was important to the final product, but the purpose was to create a full research project...

I often teach writing-focused content. At this point, using AI ethically and for polished products feels like the future of writing instruction:
✅ Human ideas first
✅ Transparent AI use
✅ Verification always

A core problem in American health is inequality. The richest 1% live 12 more years than the poorest 1%. Racial disparities cause Black Americans to die 4 years sooner than White Americans.
