Basically I feel like this all comes down to yt ppl being too comfortable and not thinking things through. I think it’s worth interrogating why you think being or wanting to be Chinese is so funny as a yt person, alongside what kind of views you hold about how Asian Americans express their heritage

There is a widespread acceptance surrounding the cultural subjugation of adoptees, at the same time as there is an understanding that yt ppl can claim ownership over any other culture, or should be applauded for doing anything other than despising cultures of poc

I think that my experience of being rejected from being Chinese can exist in tandem with yt ppl being supported in making jokes about being so Chinese because of the hierarchy of racial power

I only feel irritated about yt ppl making this joke and the only way I can explain it is by describing how as a half Chinese adoptee, any time I’ve tried to claim my Chinese heritage, it’s been disputed, questioned, and rejected by countless yt ppl in my life
