Contrary to cryptocurrencies, there is value/utility in AI; though I don't think we should lump Generative AI, and most of the BS it brings along, on the same heap as things like ML.

It has two use cases: crime. And as a response to that: anti-crime.

Note that the same folks pushing cryptocurrencies are now pushing AI BS.

Surely, they are plotting something together against you.

I think Generative AI, such as ChatGPT, etc., which is what you are referring to, should not be thrown on the same heap as Machine Learning and style transfer, which is what's being used here.

Basically this setup learns one sound and applies the style of another to it, that's it. Nothing nefarious

And no, it’s not both-sidesing. It’s just not a polarized view.

They’re popular because they have utility. (Unlike some other tech)

Being able to speak to a computer in your own tongue is super useful, especially for the not so digitally savvy.

That doesn’t mean that there’s no massive bubble being inflated or there are no negative effects.

Same!

Their lawyers told them to, no doubt. Because when the bubble bursts, politicians will be looking for scapegoats.

🤣

Just wanted to point out that vocational schools are often really forward thinking and using modern techniques and tools that graduates can apply directly in the field, where academia and higher education are often criticised for not lining folks up for the 'real' world.

Looks pretty American to this Dutchman, but maybe you can spot some weird stuff. :D www.wingstop.co.nl/menu

I heard there were long lines, so I guess it will not be long before there's more than one here.

My kid is being taught this in his very first year of his software development education. Mind you, he's in a vocational (=practical) school, not an academic one.

On top of that: a surplus of GPUs will lead to lower prices of said GPUs. That house will come down sooner or later.

Game streaming is not new, has been around and working well for years now, yet it never really took off beyond incidental use.

Why would now be different?

Also keeping into account the recent price hikes of subscriptions and the exodus that will follow after that.

I can imagine. My experience was with SoundCloud who apparently hires people working from scripts and don’t know how to handle anything else.

Had a copyright strike once at YouTube where sounds were not even remotely similar and they resolved it quickly after I told them they were not the same.

Nobody!

Because growing seniors is not a priority for many companies. Just recruit them from somewhere else, much cheaper!

And AI is making this much worse. There’s a whole generation learning to just throw manure at a wall for as many times is needed for something to stick.

Had that once too after switching distributor. Was surprisingly hard to set it straight. They didn’t seem to understand: “yes, that’s also me. You can tell because I have the same legal name, artist name and using the same ISRCs.”

Thanks! That article is older than my kids too! :P
