Semi-retired GP, appraiser, Chippenham Town Board and Medical Officer, Surrey CCC ex-General Committee, CPFC ST holder, Bath Rugby ST holder, Doorway Wiltshire.
NLS; Maidenhead Utd 3 Chippenham TownFC 0 (HT 1-0); attendance 1114; winning HT draw ticket 72116 (I had 72111 to 72115...).
Alan Devonshire's last game as MUFC manager after 10 years, so much focus on that while CTFC slipped to bottom place.

The way our logistics worked for the return journey from Strasbourg, we spent most of the afternoon & early evening in Luxembourg City. Christmas Market stuff there also, and we found a very good brasserie to enjoy a loooong lunch.

Strasbourg - great away trip. Put aside result, the idiocy of a few Palace fans & the malevolence of CRS - it was a trip with good Palace mates to a beautiful city. A magnificent cathedral, obsession with storks & bretzels (sic) & a Xmas Market which made even me feel festive

Yesterday. Strasbourg. The Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Strasbourg.
Up the tower and inside the cathedral. Nothing, started in the 13th Century, astronomical clock and rose window. Impressive.

Racing Strasbourg 2 #cpfc 1. 'Suboptimal'. Internecine fights at HT & FT, gate-forcing, inevitable gassing by Riot Police. A game where we missed two complete open goals on the way to turning a lead into a defeat. A generally sluggish performance.
Addo boys v HF. Please stop it. Now.

Here we are in one of the smallest hotel rooms in the world. But good journey Heathrow -> Luxembourg -> Metz -> Strasbourg, nice Italian meal in Luxembouurg, & a good evening with other Palace fans in Le Petit Tigre watching the 2nd half of Spurs being Spursy.
Roll on tomorrow!

NLS; @chippenhamtown.com 2 Farnborough 2 (HT 0-2); att 449. We wanted a 2nd successive win & had bright first 5 mins. But were then 2 down in 12. Late on we found some momentum, & scored in the 80th (Olaf) and 87th minutes (TOE). A great comeback. 3 unbeaten in league ^ off the bottom! Just...

NLS; Chippenham Town 1 Tonbridge Angels; att 466. At last another win, certainly deserved, but still needed a penalty save by Will H and a superb goalline clearance by Will K to see it out.
Still bottom but maybe the spark for a good run. Fingers crossed. Onwards and upwards.

Surfaced from my sleep catch-up just in time to get to Bath for matinée performance of 'To Kill a Mockingbird' at @theatreroyalbath.bsky.social
Excellent production, fine leading performance by Richard Coyle as Atticus Finch, with v good support. A cleverly designed set enabling quick changes.

Last day in Tobago. Not just wasted by killing time at an airport, but instead an afternoon spent at Pigeon Point Heritage Park, paddling in the sea, and eating excellent pie and pholourie.

In contrast to Sunday, a chilled out Monday - Great Courland Bay, Buccoo, then a glass-bottomed boat trip to No Man's Land, going over Buccoo reef, swimming in the Nylon Pool, then limin' by the lagoon at No Man's Land. Barry looked after us well.

Friday 14th - mooch around Ariapita Avenue (see match photos), flight back to Tobago, Crown Point, Fort Milford (including falling flat on my face tripping over a hidden tree root), and Sandy Point beach.

Thurs 13th, in Trinidad for the WC Qualifier, T & T 1 Jamaica 1, sadly eliminating Dwight Yorke's Carnival Kings.
Great sense of occasion & atmosphere, noise, drums, steel bands, stilt-walkers, fire-eaters. Quality of play not great. Frenetic mostly. Memorable birthday for Dave.

Good to catch up with Kiera Maguire yesterday in the Pawson's (and of course Kevin Day, even if he did insult my attire). As ever, the only Weed in the pub, Kieran was in undercover mode,as undercover as someone 6'3" can be...

After a perfectly observed Remembrance Sunday ceremony, a forgettable 0-0 against the old foe, with neither side deserving to win. Biggest entertainment was a Weed penalty being overturned by VAR.
Canvot stood in for Matc really well, and Tyrick was superb despite being crocked.

National League South; Maidstone United 3 Chippenham Town 0; attendance 1880. Not at the races. An impeccable Remembrance ceremony with a very good bugler is about the only positive I can take out of this.

2025 season Celebration Evening with T20 Blast win to celebrate for the women's team, but nothing much to celebrate for the men's team - 2nd in the County Championship won't do nowadays. However, a pleasant evening, in good company, and good value.

European Conference League Group stage; CPFC 3 AZ Alkmaar 1 (HT 2-0); attendance about 21,500.
Easy win in the end, VAR used in the penalty (missed) & first two goals.
Good turnout from the fans of De Kaasboeren (the Cheese Farmers), sang right to the end.
An enjoyable evening

The Cricket Society Autumn Awards Lunch. Lovely event as ever, Alec Stewart on fine form as Guest of Honour. On our table were Wallasey CC Evertonians Dad (Rich) & lad (Oliver), leg-spinner Oliver having won Outstanding U16 Schoolboy award - smashing people.

NL; Sutton United 2 Eastleigh 1; att 1759. The U's were at the bottom of the league, but got a much-needed win & moved off that dreaded position. Having played well first half & being in control, they certainly made it nervy at the end!
Onwards and upwards.

NLS; @chippenhamtown.com 2 Salisbury 2 (HT 1-2); attendance 616. Wet conditions, real relegation 6-pointer in early November! Had this down as 'win or bust' but it felt a bit different having fought back from 2 down. Much better 2nd half. Believe.
