“Say not in grief that she is no more
but say in thankfulness that she was
A death is not the extinguishing of a light,
but the putting out of the lamp
because the dawn has come.”

As one year comes to a close and a new one is on the horizon, I’m reflecting on the opportunity we have in front of us for 2026 to be a year of positive and dramatic change for the country - if we stay focused.

I’m looking forward to doing my part, and I know you are too.

"How fascists rewrite the past to control the future", Prof Jason Stanley. What an incredible segment. Fascism has arrived in America, & denunciation rules the day. Just glad we can still talk about this authoritarianism creep which truly is a mafia state. Look at Putin's Russia. THIS IS THEIR M.O.

For more insight into the tectonic background of today’s M7.7 #earthquake in Myanmar I’d recommend this blog post and the original article on extrusion tectonics. There is also a video hiding somewhere on YouTube that illustrates this experiment perfectly. 🧪⚒️

This could be devastating. This is strike-slip mechanism on a plate boundary, much like the 1906 quake on the San Andreas. The rupture length is at least 300km. The capital, Yangon, is near the fault, but I can’t yet see if the fault ruptured towards Yangon or away from it

Much of what President Trump said in his address to Congress “was inflammatory, radical, and dangerous,” @sbg1.bsky.social writes. “But it was also familiar, his by-now-standard mix of braggadocio and self-pity, partisan bile and patently absurd lies.”
Trump’s Golden Age of Bunk
In a Castro-length speech to Congress, the President claimed victory, while proving that even the most unhinged address can be boring if it goes on long enough.
