The MAGA “solution” is mass deportation (although some traditional Republicans align with deregulatory YIMBYs). The question is if the American people buy this asinine “solution.“ To some, sure, but I think many see through this.

The partisan divide has grown, too. The wealthiest 100 tended to give more to Republicans than to Democrats before last year. But giving to the GOP spiked in 2024, with *84%* of donations going to back Republicans or conservative PACs.

I would say Social Security also counts, but yeah, you can't have both appreciating assets and affordability forever. The escalator to the middle class eventually leaves the ground.

The ratio in my city is reversed too, although that's partly because of all of the students and partly because it's mostly multi-family housing.

My city is majority renters. I am talking national numbers here (which are complicated to disaggregate but the top line is that there more households own than rent).
