No, I know. I get and appreciate what you’re saying. Like I said, I like Matt Stafford. I just thought it was an odd and exaggerated comment at a weird point in the conversation. “You’re the goat at standing behind large men and throwing a ball and not much else” is backhanded and immeasurable.

That’s what I would assume, but it’s such a backhanded compliment. And in the context of the discussion, I thought maybe Brees was talking about accuracy, release time, and field vision, but that’s too generous of an interpretation.

It’s just such an odd comment to make about a good qb, but probably not even the best active one. And what does “pure passer” even mean? How do you measure that?
