Measuring tapes!!!!!!! I also like those little plastic box openers but they seem expensive for swag? I have one from Dietl though and it is lovely.

I don’t know what the point of asking anyone to make a MARC record for a cancelled check is! And I’m a MARC fan!

I’m crying for all the bespoke metadata in our idiotic DAMS being eaten alive by bots crawling for LLMs.

And I promise you 73% of our MARC records are still machine generated garbage from BRODART truly why do we all have jobs at all

It’s maybe nice(?) that your class is so 2003-pilled that you don’t have to hear about genAI?

I’m just glad to see finally someone has settled the question of how to classify “20 Slices of American Cheese” and its “in the fridge that’s an archives”

20 Slices of American Cheese
20 slices of Kraft American Singles. This is the last remaining copy of edition. This title has been collected by The Auchtermuchty Food Museum, Baylor University, The University of Michigan…

That’s the best provenance I’ve ever heard

Oh neat! Do you put the scans up on your own DAMS? And when you decide to do a full book digitization, do you change the scan quality or workflow?

We’re moving away from bespoke “one brochure in this bigger folder” for several reasons (not sure if we can if the thing requested is from a book tho) and going full folder is what seems to make public access possible… why did you stop?

(I am not so interested in whether or not you think on-demand reference scans are a good idea, although I’m not your boss so)
