[millennial voice] I'm trying to Do A Thing

"Audition" by Katie Kitamura does this in an interesting way, "Trust" by Hernan Diaz heavily features breaks with reality and I'm curious if there's a trend. I'm also thinking of movies like "Bugonia" and "Eddington" which feature psychotic breaks but also mess with the viewer re: what is real

If you’re spending any time at all trying to get AI to write something good instead of writing something, of any quality, on your own, that’s wasted hours of your life you will never get back. Hundreds of wasted hours, man. Just write some shit jesus

some housekeeping: this semester has been busy but I'm clinging by my fingernails to my twice-monthly posting schedule. I have a free post for November in the works, but since it's not yet finished, I'm putting up the one for paid subscribers first.

I can't believe how photogenic this dog (her name is NOVA) is, Bagel has not once in her entire life looked into the camera and smiled and Nova did it for this whole impromptu photo shoot

(everyone who complains about not enough men/masculinity in literary fiction should be forced to read no fewer than five (5) books by trans men before they are allowed to publish any more opinions)

*Bastard OUT of Carolina. Also the 2 Kathy Acker books I’ve read feel like they changed me even though I didn’t understand them… they just rewired my brain somehow and now she lives in the wires lurking and judging my writing for being too conventional

“Bastard of Carolina” left me sobbing in a bathroom stall at work and I’ve never been able to articulate why a book that left me with such rage at the world was also one of the most meaningful reading experiences of my life

And now that I have your attention, please help my girlfriend deal with a Kafkaesque clusterfuck of transmisogyny.
