Oh, that is fantastic!

I have LOTS of Cairn Terrier stories, too many to tell. That's what happens when you grow up with a kennel with 2-3 litters a year. Mostly fun, with a mix of panic now and then, especially when someone would leave a gate open.

I miss seeing Cairns, especially puppies - Mom still has the kennel, but I can't travel much anymore.

My mom has been a Dog Show judge longer than I have been alive. I am 58.

Mom just told me that every time she sees an ad for AI, she automatically thinks Artificial Insemination.

(She owns a kennel)

Now she's telling me how this particular judge is not her favorite. "He is not feeling the muscle tone of these dogs at all."

Wow! Really lovely.

Oh, thanks, forgot to note why I linked it - had to do with my own tendency towards bias confirmation and trying to learn my way out of it. Thank you for reading. Dr. B was incredible.

1) Re. Christianity's revisionism. Yes, that would bother me. But I don't know the details on Job. I try to be open minded, esp. on textual criticism.

2) On the Jewish minority position being on the same page, well, that's just cool. We have them too, but usually as an obscure appendix. 😅

Oh, our responses crossed cyberspace at the same time. I think what I would say is there are moments of faith within the larger text of doubt. So, obviously, Christian orthodoxy has interpreted the Redeemer text as just that. I barely got thru Hebrew in seminary, so have never done a deep dive.

I remember you making this point before, commenting how remarkable it is that it was included in the Tanakh at all, which is in a way, encouraging.

FTR, I largely agree, and don't think the answer at the end solves things. BUT I would say Job retained a kernel of faith.

What, you don't think I can summarize Job in less than half a tweet? 😉

It's quite literally faith! To affirm that which God has said, even when our eyes tell us it cannot be. The same thing Job confessed, "I know that my Redeemer lives and on the last day He will stand upon the earth." And St. Paul - "For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
