im heartbroken any time a series with gorgeous pixel art leaves it behind for 3D. From Pokemons beautiful gen 5 art to Rivals Of Aether, i LOVE good pixel art and animation, but it always gets left behind in favor of 3D.

Imo its often more about the little details that drove the fort into a position to BE defeated by an invasion. I've seen so many stories in which a fortress gets razed by an invasion that it would have survived earlier in the series, due to the slow accumulation of little, cascading problems.

you know it's NOT kanaya bc she's the only person that could make typing like that not feel like you're talking to a serial killer

This previous art seems to imply it... technically can communicate. Just not verbally
Maybe sign language would be more effective

Dems are just as culpable for allowing it to ever get to this point. Instead of campaigning on popular policy they've favored fulfilling the wishes of the ultra-wealthy for decades, and refused to adequately punish fascists when they could. For that, the establishment left is equally as guilty.

Original MM remains the best, most experimental Zelda game ever. It has the most interesting and satisfying dungeons and puzzles, the most interesting meta gameplay loop, the best moment to moment gameplay with the transformations, the most reward for mastering its schedule... Games fuckin awesome.

OoT ultimately is a consistent game - solid dungeon design, but it doesn't do anything truly out of the box. It's just that... Solid. Which is okay, it was really the first of it's kind. It was a massive achievement, and it isnt THAT fun to go back and play. Majora though? oh man...

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, considering how much cool shit has been done with Hugo in recent years. Plus hes got swag lets be real, good character design and animations

they did make some... questionable recommendations, mainly in Summertime Saga, a game that makes so little new content that they have LOST more content than they've added in the last like, 7-8 years. Other than that its mostly good ones
December 27, 2025 at 4:25 AM
Got any recommendations for ones you liked? I've noticed this trend too - lots of TDs can be fun enough, but the majority of the gameplay boils down to, as you said, both in and out of level progression, which is fun but shouldn't be the sole motivator of mastery.

Extremely this. Kbash's early stuff definitely falls into white boy gamer raging performatively (something he acknowledges himself these days) but for the past handful of years, his work has been so thoughtful, so willing to give games the time of day when NO ONE else would. He's really great.

You're kind of entirely missing the point. I would rather stop engaging in the content of a company using AI entirely then play just one game because promise they definitely won't use it for this one specific game. The use of it at all, in any work, delegitimizes the entire company.

plus the new TSO stuff which I don't know much about really but Pav summarized it further down the thread.

Last few months have been a repeated destruction of brand trust, mostly due to hussie using proxy people to emotionally manipulate, and then legally threaten when that didn't work, the creators of the Unofficial Collection into giving them complete control over the project

Alternatively, just focus on an entirely different damage mitigation system. In terms of mechanics, my favorite from soft game will probably always be Sekiro. It just feels that good, and dodging is almost never what you want to be doing.

by allowing you to roll constantly, it de-emphasizes the importance of positioning that was really important in Dark Souls 1 and 2. If an enemy is sending a flurry of attacks at you, just roll. Sometimes it needs a rhythm, but often you can just kind of do it over and over. It's too stamina generous
December 2, 2025 at 8:19 AM
I think the big problem is dodge spam, mostly. Rolling is much less of a problem before dark souls 3 because it's weaker and much harder to get a fast roll. You have to wear p light armor just to get a medium roll without significant stat investment, and even then they aren't spammy like in 3

The series just isn't about Finn anymore. I'm fine with that. He had an entire, very long series about him. Now the franchise is focusing on other things

Fionna and Cakes world became a bonified universe of its own in setting, and characters from it and original Adventure Time occasionally intersect due to the ongoing themes of Simon, Magic, and alternate universes

Instead, people encounter friction in a competitive game, immediately go to fucking twitter to bitch at the devs, the devs then nuke something into the ground, and the game and players are worse for it because they don't just learn counterplay. I hate it. it sucks it sucks it sucks
