an item of that size is something that needs to be dealt with by someone other than ups. i turned the process over to folks in chicago, but i believe the guy who bought it has a company with trucks he'd be able to use for transport. you're sure right about a billiards table being a speciality item!

i believe the guy who bought it was a big fan of steve's and the game as well. it comes with a quite attractive COA that i know people have framed for some of the items that have sold. and buyers also know the money goes to his wife, so some thins go for more than expected

comparable "no-name" ones go for about 3-4K. this was a pro billard/snooker table -- no pockets -- from when steve was a billiard hustler, prior to his move into poker. i'd thought it might go for more

one never knows. steve's billiards table went for a grand, which was a bargain.

it's a good track i nust admit. i was living in sf then, but spending all my nights at punk clubs and my das flipping father yod, white label dead & psych LPs of all sorts dealers in europe & through goldmine. i felt things went sideways when pigpen died, so i didn't pay much attention to them then.

nothin' personal, jeff. i just hated that era/sound. they took some of the dead's shittiest songs -- "playin in the band," "one more saturday night" -- and made them even more unbearable. trapped between that & glam rock, a turn towards krautrock, zeuhl & canterbury was the only sane choice.

in most instances, such as this one, i use the term to explain my fondness for something that i probably can't make an aesthetic case for, but which has personal resonance that buggers description
