Apparently acupuncture is compatible with catholic teaching if it is based on "science and not Taoism" which seems impossible?

That isn't even in my top 5 issues with the movie but it's just such a more interesting movie then the other two sequals.

The prequels are a whole different mess, great concepts executed like outsider art.

Last Jedi had ideas, it took swing, and it tried to make text a long of things that had been subtext for a while, now maybe they didn't all land and maybe the stake/context/geography was strained even for a star wars movie, but unlike TFA it's ambitious in a way you can respect.

Honestly if there are enough people at Thanksgiving it might be a buffet.

It's not about how they are eaten it's how they are served. Multiple things to choose to put on your plate. I've been to eastern Europe, I know they have this. It's basically a buffet.

A salad can be a type of side dish, basically there will be a large plate (a type of dish) with turkey or a similar entree. Then there will be other plates and bowls with stuffing, cranberry sauce, rolls, Mac and cheese also on the table. These are the side dishes.

OK so I don't see why you would think there is a feed back loop that's going to increase investment somehow when all the investment is hyper concentrated and correlated.

There's no way there isn't at least one more AI winter before we need to even start worrying about these problems.

It's way less distributed than you think, all of the training relies on gpus sourced from a single company which also does much of the investing in the companies that are buying the gpus. Check out stuff from @edzitron.com if you're curious in just how centralized and incestuous it is.

What has happened with Facebook where algorithmic engagement targeting has turned the site into an outrage filled cesspool is probably the better comparison.
November 23, 2025 at 3:27 PM
The thing is it's not self perpetuating now, each "cycle" is expensive and time consuming training processes that people are doing. The tech bros behind the current AI hype are trying to make it seem like an inevitable singularly when it's not anything like that at all.
