Very clear message from Warsaw re basing European fighter jets in Poland without actually consulting Poland.

A very good catch by The Guardian on Russianisms that make the “peace deal” sound like it escaped from a Russian grammar workbook and got run over by Google Translate on the way out.

I’d add “NATO expansion” - their trademark phrase, not “NATO enlargement.”

Every frame of this footage tells a story of pain and resilience. But at the 12th second, there’s one that says it all: a woman hands a freed soldier a vyshyvanka - Ukraine’s embroidered shirt - and he puts it on immediately. A quiet, powerful act of returning to dignity, identity, home.

Estonian leadership’s social media game stays unmatched. 😆

The MFA, its Secretary General, and the ambassador to the UK discuss what they’ve just seen at the Russian border.

Ukrainians will not accept a suicide plan that surrenders territory and people, and gives Russia military advantage for another attack.

Europe must give Ukraine what they need to win.

A reminder ahead of Budapest meeting where Ukrainians will be on the menu as they wont be at the table. ⬇️

Soviet joke on Nazi forces massing on the Czechoslovakian border in 1938 (ironic, given it’s always been Moscow’s own modus operandi):

- Why are there so many troops?
- In case of a provocation.
- What if there's no provocation?
- How could there not be, with so many troops around!

Mysterious! Who could have possibly attacked it and then posted the attack online? Let’s play hangman: starts with R, ends with ussia, and has a veto seat at your Security Council.

So, who attacked your convoy, Sir?

+ for Lamb, the lighter isn’t about love or betrayal like it was for Smiley and Karla - it’s what’s left after both: habit, decay, the reflex of survival. Smiley reached for meaning, Lamb reached for fire. Same craft, colder century, the lesson is endurance.

Left: Pavel Durov, Russian founder of Telegram, suddenly discovering democracy on the exact day of Romanian elections.

Right: same guy, this time for Moldovan elections. Czech elections are on Friday, so Pavel drop a copypasta draft “coincidentally” a third time and call it a trilogy.

Absolutely. Repeating the narrative that Ukraine can’t win is deadly for Ukrainians. Not to mention flat-out wrong.

A very important read by Yuval Noah Harari. www.ft.com/content/2a4d...

I remember reading this in 2016, struck by how much longing for democracy those two sentences carried. Moldova votes in 2 days. The elections will be unpredictable not because democracy is firm, but because we will see if Moldova can resist the most aggressive Russian interference yet.
