🌍Over time, #restored #peatlands tend to align more closely with intact sites, exhibiting a linear trend in #LST and albedo similarity. Full alignment may take decades.

What did we find?
➡️Restoration led to notable shifts in the difference between #restored and intact #peatlands.
➡️Daytime #LST differences decreased.
➡️Nighttime #LST differences changed.
➡️Albedo differences narrowed, especially in winter & early spring.

We assessed 72 sites across #Finland, #Estonia, #Latvia, #Lithuania, the #UnitedKingdom, #Canada, and the #UnitedStates.
Before restoration, degraded sites often had lower daytime land surface temperature (LST), higher nighttime #LST, and lower #albedo than intact sites.
