I'm very with ya, the only thing we can do is not use it ourselves on our personal stuff and then hype the fuck out creative work made by actual people.

I'll defo be there day one for Tiny Tires!!

I feel for ya so much, I think I just managed to quit and go indie before the encroachment really started to begin.

I quit my first job right before a project I worked on for 3 years got turned sold and turned into an nft project, before being cancelled cause that bubble burst

That is a good way to look at it, the idea that we can have a "one size fits all" opinion on it is not realistic.

I think my opinion is way too strong atm but I don't really know how to come down from it, maybe it'll just take time.

I just lose interest if genAI has been used at all, for anything.
December 14, 2025 at 7:43 AM
Oh absolutely ahha, I have so many games to catch up on at this point I could probably last until 2028 haha
December 14, 2025 at 7:12 AM
I'm still working on my stance on it all, I don't wanna not buy something just because a mistake was made.

I also agree with your thread on people using genAI to get a harassment campaign going on someone.
December 14, 2025 at 7:09 AM
I think that's a fair point and I don't mean to add to a misinformation pile.

it's mostly that it got silently patched out that threw me but I understand them not wanting to bring attention to it if it was an asset pack. It was defo out of control for them if that was the case
December 14, 2025 at 7:09 AM
Oh absolutely, I grew up wanting to make indie games! but I've seen so many games that don't fit the mold of what inspired me that I don't feel attached to it anymore.

I'd love to have an industry-wide definition just to see if I still fit in it 😅
December 13, 2025 at 5:17 PM
Has anyone else experienced this? not necessarily with this game but just in general, has anyone who is opposed to genAI folded for a game / piece of art yet.

I'm starting to believe, not that "it's here to stay" but that it'll infect a lot of stuff I do attach value to
December 13, 2025 at 5:15 PM
I just can't get over them using genAI 😅

This feels like the first time I've really felt challenged in my "no support for genAI" stance I've maintained since it all kicked off

I want to give them a pass, they've patched out anything that can be traced back, but that doesn't feel right :/
December 13, 2025 at 5:15 PM
but at the same time people tend to use the label as a marker for underdog, and it's hard to believe an underdog could have millions in funding.

I dunno if the term will ever have a definition that pleases everyone 😅 seems to just be useful for marketing nowadays
December 13, 2025 at 4:55 PM
It does seem like the term indie is far too loaded now, it seems to be a binary and just includes anything not AAA

but I think you're right, do the people working on it have direct ownership of the IP / profits from said labour? That seems like the healthiest pov

Great video, I love planning projects like that, balancing the ease of adding content with the kind of content you want to actually put in to land on something feasible took a long to really understand how to do
December 12, 2025 at 7:10 PM
yeh, it really serves the gladiatorial parts of people's minds as an entertainment piece. but if you got nominated for game of the year, you're a game of the year

I wish we could promote more varied cool things as a culture without making them "fight it out"
December 12, 2025 at 5:49 PM
I already did that with nfts, there were a few artists that went all in and once it blew up they either did a small apology or just moved on. And I follow them again cause it feels mean to write someone off forever.

We live in a world without spines and it makes me sad
December 9, 2025 at 10:52 AM
100%! if I see someone "testing it, trialing it, seeing how far it's come" I know they'll use it at some point and I stop supporting them in my mind.

I hate it sm, but I also hate that once the fad is over I know I'll forgive a bunch of people who used it and pretend they were just naive
December 9, 2025 at 10:52 AM
But I haven't seen one yet, and the ultimate issue for me was the one you pointed out about skill rot and losing the ability to code over time / not gaining it to begin with.
December 8, 2025 at 7:19 PM
I dunno, I looked up claude just be sure and it seems to scrape the Internet.

Which was all code / data put up to be learnt from. Not harvested and sold by a company. Seems sus to me.

I could be wrong tho! And I'm sure there might one day be a data set that actually was built with consent,
December 8, 2025 at 7:18 PM
I think that is my worry though, other creators not feeling like they need to label their work as using genAI because their line is in a different place to mine 😅

It's gonna be tricky to know what you're buying in the future
December 8, 2025 at 7:09 PM
I dunno if I'll ever see it as different personally, but I defo get that there are versions of this tech that could be ethical.

I've seen enough examples of code being scraped without consent for me to give it a wide berth.
December 8, 2025 at 7:09 PM
I just hope if it does become a tool used industry wide, people are honest that they're using it in their game. So those of us that want to can avoid supporting it's use.

my only real worry is people assuming "everyone" will use it means they don't need to tag their work as such
December 8, 2025 at 1:11 PM
Ahh mint! Like many others, I love your art so it's nice to see you posting more!

I was partial to all the digivices growing up which were basically just tamagotchis 😅
