I don't get the idea that a false positive is so unimaginably worse than an unidentified actual cancer. This is insanity to me. Give me ten false positives please, vs. one missed cancer that kills me. That's crazy.

What if identifying only a small percentage of cases saves a few priceless human lives? Every life is worth it.

I mean, I do see the point of "well, our tax money isn't helping us in a disaster anymore, might as well keep that money at home and DIY the thing", but I can imagine what the feds wouild do if deprived of revenue too. Retaliation, I mean. Plus yes, loss of federal workers' jobs (not okay).

Anyway tax strikes are (in theory) something that states would do, not individuals. And states doing it is very sketchy as well, plus it could get their individual tax payers into big trouble. Bad idea.
