My goodness - the Nats coverage those first few years was sublime. The gamers that (Saint) Barry Svrluga wrote were unbelievable prose and were punctuated one a week by Boswell dropping some poetry. The body and the spirit. What a way to orient a fanbase to baseball’s return.

Wait so Eggo was teasing John Kerry after he lost? Are they owned by Haliburton or Sinclair or something?

I’m a lifetime DC resident. I weep for the sports section and the rest of the local coverage we lost. I cancelled my subscription because of Bezos. I’d $$ for the content.

And like dudes and dudettes: we have the power to go elsewhere. They just think they own us. You are not your aol.com email address. You are not your skin of grime. The past is the past. Leave it behind. Walk into the glorious future. Become the glorious future.

I went to a WBC game in Miami once a decade or more ago and it was a blast. Stands full of instruments. Totally different vibe than mlb games. Cool as hell.

It’s striking that the protesters stand proud while the agents turn from the camera, hiding their face.

It’s like they let that fellow from Vanity Fair take these.

Fascists love to harp back to the glory days of empire, the 18th and 19th centuries, wanting to make X great again, and forget that generally liberal democracy was not leftist elite over reach. It was a compromise to sustain capitalism after conditions led subject populations to revolt repeatedly.
