So we got there. Now, in some cases, AI cleanup is better than human.

Want to give it a try? The beta is open for @reactjs codebases 🚀

Whitespace was a stubborn problem 😤

LLMs often don’t get formatting right. Plus, different versions, team setups, plugins, etc. make it harder.

Our solution? A GitHub Action that runs on generated PRs using the customer’s existing ESLint/Prettier setup.

We tried many models. Since it's an async workflow, speed isn’t critical - consistency and quality matter.

@OpenAI’s 4o performed best but had system errors. We settled on 4.1, but had to work around its worse quality results.

To find the right model, we created a test harness evaluating outputs for multiple scenarios, comparing results against human-created PRs.

Each scenario ran 10 times because results varied so much.

You can get surprisingly far with an LLM and a quick prompt, but getting good results consistently is where the real work is.

Some issues we solved through better prompting and different models, others needed custom solutions.

Most attempts were fine, but then it would add random comments or have formatting issues.

Many failed CI due to unused imports, incorrect indentation, etc.

We’ve been running it in prod for months, and it’s now getting everything right - consistently good PRs.

But it wasn’t always like that…

AI Flag Cleanup functions as a @github integration.

It searches the repo for Bucket SDK usage and identifies where specific feature keys are used.

LLMs refactor the code to remove flags and eliminate unreachable codepaths.

③ Showing access history in targeting

Flag access version history was hidden away. Now it's included below the targeting area on the Access tab.

② Added stage picker to confirmation dialog

We found we'd sometimes forget to update the stage when making access changes. Now the stage picker appears in the confirmation dialog when you’re ready to save.

① Moved stage picker into the sidebar

So it’s out of the way of the main area for access control.
