That's authentic, but it's his college yearbook from Trinity College, Hartford, not his high school yearbook. www.advocate.com/media/2021/4...

A yearbook image of Carlson listing membership in the Dan White Society and Jesse Helms Foundation is authentic, according to Trinity College.

Maybe worth a call to the credit card company first -- couldn't hurt, and much faster/cheaper than going to court.

Not surprised this was a Florida-based company. State law used to allow them to scam, but it looks like a new law may offer some help in small claims? www.tampabay.com/news/real-es...
New Florida law protects consumers from one kind of moving scam. Here’s what to know.
Moving brokers are no longer allowed to give estimates, and they must register with the state.

The (shady) industry has written some of the laws, and there were some legal bars our friends were wondering if they could clear. The credit card reversal ended up being a weird/surprising shortcut. Power to you!

I’m so sorry! This happened to a friend of mine. After getting their stuff back they did succeed in getting the extra charges reversed by a credit card company. RMMV

maybe don't repost it then?

what in the Katz statement do you disagree with?

If Mamdani said... whatever-it-is-you-just-wrote... then I'd be worried too. But he didn't. You wrote some incoherent stuff and then critiqued it yourself.

Whether you intend it or not, you come off as concern trolling.

On principle I simply don’t endorse wishing violence on people, especially as a public joke. For a host of reasons including how wishing violence on people changes the *wisher*. On this point I think people should be careful for *spiritual* reasons, whether or not it’s simply expedient.

the length of detention is less important than the underlying claim that's already demonstrated: the private prison lobby supports strict immigration enforcement. e.g.: www.cambridge.org/core/journal...

What we are reading in the emails is already wildly conspiratorial.

That’s *before* any additional speculation.

Glad you brought this up. Seems like the Josephus quote is a weak foundation for the matter-of-fact descriptions of "Torah-only" I've seen too.

here is my story about how Zohran's focus on community amid the loneliness epidemic helped young people connect their politics to an organizing infrastructure, that interviewed ZM, and does not use the NYT's framing of "they don't know how to make friends" :-) and also ran 4 days before NYT's lol
Zohran Mamdani's Establishment-Fighting Campaign Built Community for Young People
“What Mamdani has done is not only inspire and mobilize young people, but he has exposed the establishment and some of their calcified views of participation and inclusion.”
