Related to this & your above thread-I recently rewatched Murphy's Romance, which I saw many times as a kid, including in the theater. I loved it! Then & now. I don't feel super adept at evaluating movie trends but I kept thinking--They don't put movies like this in the theater anymore!

Yikes! Amazon is never even on my radar. Although an English translation of François le Champi did turn up there when I was searching the other day ...I then bought it from the university press that first published it!

He was! And I didn't know any of it. I was working in a bookstore when that bio came out and remember thinking...a translator? why? But he packed so much into his brief time.
