If you publish a PDF with information in it, that information isn't redacted. Maybe you attempted to draw black squares also, good for you. But you published the information.

Even if it's metadata hidden inside the file, you still published the information.
It’s been a while but just a note; if a pdf of scanned documents once contained OCRd text, and if the displayed bitmap part was edited to blacken out the pixels in the scan - sometimes the original OCR text is just sitting there inside the pdf. Drop it in a text or hex editor, run strings etc.

May you live in interesting times. May you be recognised by powerful people. May you get what you wish for. May your name be redacted from The Epstien Files.

Trying to spend my money with intention, rather than whatever is easiest. Conscious consumption, I guess.

So that means less kindle reading, fuck Amazon, and more paper books. Plus this matches my shirt.

Apologies to Mitch Hedberg, a beach can never get lost, it can only become more beach. Sorry for the convenience.

The fight to save Australia's disappearing beaches
Most Australians live by the beach, but the coastline we have built our lives around is disappearing before our eyes.

Went out for my after work (from home) stroll. It's 40°C, but feels like it's dropping.

I guess I won't be seeing Craig Thomson at the cafe at Terrigal any time soon.

@kottke.org I saw you reposted Machine With Concrete on your blog. 15 years ago I made one out of lego, and filmed it in a similar style to Ganson's original video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=MA7k...

It's crazy that Santa makes a list, and then checks it twice.

He should really create a better system for capturing the information first.

My work bought us Christmas hams, which I appreciate. This afternoon I will be carrying it home on public transport (with ice packs etc).

If there are sniffer dogs, I'm gonna get locked the fuck up.

I used Edge as a browser. I started when it got vertical tabs, which I liked. Other browsers since adopted vertical tabs, but I stayed with Edge.

Yesterday, a new UI element popped up in the wrong place "Search with Copilot", and I accidentally clicked on it.

It's the weirdest. Trump said something consistent with who he is, and consistent with everything else he has ever said, and people are surprised. What?
It's weird how the Reiner thing was the breaking point for some of the most abject Trump apologists

I subscribed a few days ago. I've been a fan for a long goddamn time. ~2 decades ago a colleague visited the US (the city The Onion comes from, I think?), and brought me back a physical copy. It lived on my desk and I'd read it from time to time, until it got too many coffee rings.
Okay gang, The Onion is 80 sign-ups away from our 60,000th print subscriber.

This would put us in contention for the Top 10 most circulated newspapers in the U.S.

So! We're giving our 60,000th subscriber a mystery box by our archivist as a nice lil thank you.

Sign up now. I'd give it an hour.

If a movie used a scene like this as an analogy for "this war is about oil", it would be entirely too on-the-nose. And yet, here we (well, you, not me) are.

Played and sang at blues jam last night. The more I do it, the better my singing and playing gets, which makes me more confident, which makes me sing better, which makes me more confident, and so on.

Someone took a video, and sent it to me. Sounds pretty decent.
