Arsenal fan, tech PR guy, and Twitter/X refugee.

My employers have asked me to make it clear that they want *nothing* to do with any of the dull, tedious comments I make on here, as they are apparently “far too cool” for that sort of thing.
Let today be a day for justice for all owls - not just those who have been objectified by labelling them as “superb”. Inequality for owls must end here, with owls from all walks of life receiving equal treatment, based on their own individual merits.

Huge congratulations to Man City TV, otherwise known as Sky Sports, for today’s win. Their cheerleading throughout did the boys in blue proud.

Fascinating watching the post match criticism of Chelsea’s defensive set up on Sky, when all the pundits - Paul Merson aside - were hedging their bets, at best, at half-time about their approach, and at worst, openly praising them.

The more I think of this, the weirder this is. Can you *imagine* the criticism Arteta would have got for turning up to a 2nd leg of a semi-final, needing a goal, setting up a team like that? Look at how much he was hammered for the team he put out at Anfield at the start of the season.
Gary Neville absolutely gutted by Arsenal winning that match. Moaning throughout about the team’s lack of willingness to put the ball at risk in a game they only needed to draw, yet bewilderingly full of praise for an ultra defensive Chelsea side who needed a goal but offered nothing.

[2007-2024 football pundits]: “Arsenal are too focused on playing fancy, overly elaborate football. They just need to find a way to win”.

[2025-2026 football pundits]: “Not like that”.

Anyone know if Cole Palmer came on for Chelsea tonight? Could have sworn they said on TV that he was coming on, but didn’t see him…

Back in the real world, Arsenal were thoroughly professional, waited for the game to come to them instead of putting it at risk unnecessarily, defended stoutly, and when it opened up, took their opportunity to win the game. Job done. Up next: Wembley.

The best thing about that result is, clearly, City dropping points. A close second? The one time Sp*rs show some passion to come from behind and get a result, and it’s in a game their fans were desperate to lose. It must be a miserable life supporting that lot.

Can I just say that I have ALWAYS loved the Totteringham Hotspurts. Never let anyone tell you any different.

I suppose it's a good job Arsenal's men's team didn't already sign her sibling, Joan, as otherwise we'd be looking at Ona Batlle after her brother.

(I'm here all week, try the steak)
Arsenal are in talks to sign Ona Batlle in the summer after her contract at Barcelona expires.

Just came across this on Instagram and, to be fair, I think it might explain a lot.

A really devastating defeat. 3 big issues: 1) We still have NOTHING down our left, which makes our inevitable shift to the right via the horseshoe of death incredibly predictable 2) Delayed throw now a big problem. Made the crowd nervous, and get on the back of the players 3) Centre forward.

Guy opposite me on the Tube is wearing Lidl branded socks and I have no idea how to deal with this situation.

As predicted, everyone seems to be losing their collective minds on here. As much as I understand the frustration, the truth is that titles are rarely won by blowing teams away every week. The key is staying strong & consistent over the season, and not doing anything stupid. We are 7 points clear!
Suspect there will be a lot of Arsenal fans throwing their toys out of the pram tonight because we didn’t go 9 points clear. As lovely as that would have been, this was a mature performance from a physically and mentally jaded side. We didn’t lose & we didn’t do quite enough to win it. That’s all.

Commentator on the Liverpool game:

“Let’s take in ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’”

[Audio switches to the crowd singing for three minutes]

Why do Liverpool get this kind of special treatment?
January 17, 2026 at 3:05 PM
Dear Arsenal: at the risk of stating the obvious, please do NOT, under any circumstances, absolutely f*ck this up tonight. Much obliged.

Can I just say that I have ALWAYS loved Manchester United. Never let anyone tell you any different.

(I reserve the right to change this opinion next weekend)

I will say, my one concern with this Arsenal side, given how dominant they are, and how good they are defensively, is how many silly goals they continue to concede, largely against the run of play, to give the opposition hope. I’d love to see us be more ruthless.
January 14, 2026 at 10:15 PM
Very pleased for Viktor Gyokeres tonight. Even before the goal and assist, he was clearly causing Chelsea problems with his hard work and physical approach. Delighted he got on the scoresheet with a poacher’s effort - he deserved it.
January 14, 2026 at 10:04 PM
Seriously, though - this Chelsea team are shit. If Arsenal don’t make it through to Wembley now, with a goal lead going into a second leg at home, and serious questions will need to be asked.
January 14, 2026 at 10:02 PM
I’ll confess to not feeling incredibly invested in this game (I viewed it as a nice break from the stress of league games). But beating - and pretty comprehensively outplaying - Chelsea away is always a cause for celebration. I thought Arsenal were impressive - and should have won by more.

How terrible are TNT Sport’s commentators? Darren Fletcher (the commentator, not the United interim manager) was so busy labouring a stat about the number of games United could play this season that he completely missed the fact a player had been sent off for a second yellow. Bizarre.

Some very positive performances in there today. Norgaard was sensational at centre back against tough opposition, and Merino put in a captain’s performance in midfield. Also some nice flashes from Nwaneri…and how good is it to see Kai Havertz back looking fit and sharp?
