Australia’s first sub-$25k EV has landed as used Tesla Model 3s and Ys dip under $30k. What would you go for? Buy a brand-spanking BYD or a slightly-loved Tesla? Here are the pros and cons.

Honda has promised an EV in 2026 - the most likely candidate is the e:Ny1. Another mid-sized SUV - what do you think?

Most nickel is used for stainless steel. According to this chart, 15% is used for batteries. An estimated 80% of that is used for EVs, so about 12%. (LFP not inc in nickel share here is about half that of EVs with nickel chem) - links to follow

Last week I got to take the Kia EV3 compact electric SUV for a drive around the Gold Coast hinterland. First review I've done in a little while. Nice little car!

It chooses the shortest range EV on the market 😅 by default… also appears hybrid drivers do not need to stop at all on 9.5 hour drive

Odd little vehicle range comparison from Choice that claims electric cars can only drive 222km on the highway, without being transparent about which model they’ve used. You can only choose the petrol vehicle

V2L is shaping up as a point of difference for plug-in hybrids, and with bigger batteries than an early Leaf, also provide a large power source

Oc, PHEVs need regular charging to achieve promised fuel efficiency - and they're not always a cheaper choice than BEVs

Got to use one of the new EVX street pole electric car chargers in the Inner West, so convenient to be able to park nearby where I’m staying and top up the battery

Couple of highlights from Everything Electric this weekend. Definitely the most interesting year yet - faves to see were the Kia EV3, VW ID4/5, DEEPAL E06, Cupra Tavascan, Polestar 4, Zeekr Mix, Xpeng Mona - just to name a few!

My heart goes out to all those who have lost homes in the LA fires.

Here’s hoping that the celebs that have lost homes use their platforms to advocate for renewable energy and clean transport pronto

Yes, that’s true. EV sales in NZ fell off a cliff after the feebate scheme was cut

Interesting to see this examination of #EV adoption curves sees Australia reaching almost 100% electric at adoption by 2039, with NZ far behind at 64% in 2041

So excited, we finally got air con in our main living area. It’s way too humid for me here in the northern rivers now.

We’ve been running it on dry mode all day on an overcast muggy day and still managed to export to the grid
