Yes! I biked north along the river trail to the 26th Ave overlook, it’s a great connection now!

It’s going to look so good in the spring/summer! Yeah, those paths and access are really good.

I took that at 10:34 PM, it must have just been for a minute or two. It moves fast!

Some other places not mentioned already I’d recommend are
- Louisiana art museum in Humlebæk
- Helsingør (there’s a maritime museum, and Kronborg castle)
- If unique transit is a thing you’re into, there’s a forest tram bus in Lyngby
- I’d second Roskilde
- Eat smørrebrød
- Christiania

How times have changed! I think the 29th St railroad bridges had a sand bed with wood pavers on top in most cases for the original surfaces. I’d imagine a lot of dirt would have tracked on too.

Ah that makes sense, thanks! I was noticing the older wood one there in the 1914 photo too. I think I’ve seen another photo of the old K elevator as well. Is that road surface dirt or another type of unpaved? I’ve been looking for old photos of the bridges in more of their original states.

The elevator was built in 1929 and demolished in 1987 after being vacant since 1976 following a series of accidents and one death. I know there was at least an elevator there as early as 1914, which may be the same and was added on to, or one that was replaced with the larger structure.

This isn't University Avenue, this is Spruce Tree Boulevard.

This year’s election looks to be at least the second highest turnout for Minneapolis (behind 2021). We’ll see how the official count turns out!
