I am skeptical that the Times article is an effective smear. I am seeing these lines of attack backfire. AOC is a great speaker. Anyone who has ever listened to her will experience dissonance reading this. I bet you did. The smear affirmed my support. (Trump denying inflation exists backfires too).

I just finished this year's budget and between insurance and tariffs my effective tax rate increased by 50%+! Unfortunately I have to buy some computer equipment so I also get hammered by tariffs. I will not replace my hearing aids, for which my out of pocket expense doubled because of tariffs

I had the same experience. I'm middle class in IT. Republican tariffs + insurance hikes have nearly doubled my 'tax' bill while Amazon got an 80% tax cut. This country is broken.

I recently encountered a different AI problem. I encountered a programming bug. Gemini insisted the problem was with my configuration file and displayed a fix. That "fix" was already implemented: my configuration file was correct. The AI *refused to accept my proof* even though my bug lay elsewhere

Note: when US health care costs are treated as a tax then many/most US states have higher taxes than Canada. And all US states have worse medical outcomes than Canada. The Economist had a good article on this a few years back.

The gerrymander in Texas optimized around the 2024 Hispanic vote seems comparably loopy. Reps may know this but until primaries are over will defer to T.

Fitzpatrick voted against tariffs (!) but for SAVE today ... Kean was predictably all bad.

Every Rep. Senator is a co-sponsor except McConnell, Murkowski and Collins. So they can get to 51 but need 60, unless they kill the filibuster. Aside from Fetterman, I don't see any other Democrats voting for it.
