My partner picked our couple’s costume this year and I dig it. Happy Halloween!🎃 💀

Nearly every performance in Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another is fantastic. That said, the issue of political violence hits so close to home right now that I don't know when I can watch this one again. Still, I still really enjoyed it.

Portland is a gorgeous city and certainly not “war-ravaged.” The PNW, including Portland, is one of my favorite areas in the US.

You know we’re creeping towards autumn when it’s Camp Blood at the Mahoning Drive-in!

Great turnout today at the #NoKings rally in Scranton!

Rewatched Twin Peaks: The Return. I like how Lynch flipped everything on its head. Cooper reduced to the ineffectual Dougie. The last episode as a gut punch against a fairytale ending. So much responds to American violence and sin. Yet, Cooper and the good guys/gals still fight. That's important too

Scranton #MayDay rally with fellow union members. Great turnout and great weather!

A few signs from today’s #HandsOff rally in Stroudsburg, PA. The courthouse and half of Main St was packed.

I’ve never seen this many people show up in my local community for a rally, and in the rain! #handsoff

Currently re-reading. I love Hayes’ sonnet early in this collection in praise of James Baldwin. Hayes handles American beauty and violence so seamlessly in this book.

As an educator and union member, I rallied in solidarity with my wife and her fellow public school teachers/colleagues against cuts to the Department of Ed. and funding to public education. It was a great turnout!

Anyone headed to #NeMLA in Philly this week? I'm part of a panel on Thursday at noon titled "Horror Cinema and Class Critique." I'll be presenting a paper on Sorry to Bother You and Ready or Not. I'm looking forward to catching some other presentations, too!

I really thought Demi Moore was going to win last night for The Substance. That said, Mikey Madison is in every frame of Anora and carries that film. In other news, I’m so glad Flow won Best Animated Feature! We need more wordless movies about cats. 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛ #Oscars2025 #filmsky

I just remembered that today is Twin Peaks Day! So, to quote the Log Lady, “There is a sadness in this world, for we are ignorant of many things. Yes, we are ignorant of many beautiful things — things like the truth.”

Not a bad turnout at the sudden rally in front of Sen. Dave McCormick’s local office day, namely regarding Elon’s meddling with federal agencies. McCormick probably does not care, but local press showed up at least.

Heart Eyes is a really, really fun slasher and the escape I needed for about 90 minutes.

Not sure how I feel about Steven Soderbergh’s Presence. I think I need to sit on it for a day or two. It’s both a meditation on grief and kind of a murder mystery, oddly. I’ll be curious to see what others think of this one.
