Good morning! I woke up early this morning and there was a thick fog over the neighborhood. I was a bit slow getting the GoPro out, but you can see it burn off as the clouds zoom by and the sun comes up.

Super quiet dive at Fort Wetherill. There wasn't very much to see other than a few skates, a tiny sea robin in the sand, one butterflyfish buried in the rocks, and one coronetfish in the eel grass.

A tiny sea robin in the sand. You can see the small feet-like fins that let them walk around on the bottom. Summer flounder are abundant at Fort Wetherill Squid ink left behind in the water column in the shape of a squid These softball sized hermit crabs are all over the cove at Fort Wetherill sifting through the silt for their next meal.

It was a beautiful sunny day for a dive in late October, but the critters were mostly in hiding. I did find a small short bigeye early in the dive, so I spent some time working on some different images.

Fun day today! I headed out to the wreck of the Chester Poling with a buddy's ROV (underwater drone). We did a "dive" on the wreck from the comfort of the boat, found a cool vase/pot, and played with some very curious fish. Afterwards, we did a sunset dive at Pebble Beach in Rockport. Nice!

This cigar minnow stood out with its bright green scales. This is only the second time I've seen one! A surf clam shell with a bore hole from a moon snail. These voracious predators envelop their prey and drill into the shell, cutting the muscle that holds the clam shell shut and then devours the clam. Nature is so metal. Boston in the distance from Tipling Rock in Sudbury, Massachusetts on Saturday. We left camp when it was still dark and reached the top about 15 minutes before sunrise. This was a little before sunrise, but the colors got more muted after.

A juvenile sea raven - I think this is the first I've ever seen! Buffalo trunkfish hovering above the kelp - so cute! Look at those pouty lips. A beautiful longfin squid in the water column. Each of those dots can change color rapidly! Tiny northern puffer in the water column

A squid posing for my camera This windowpane flounder was seemingly getting pestered by these hermit crabs. When it turned to move away from my lights, it flicked the hermit crab off. A surf clam buried in the sand with its siphon sticking out to filter food from the water column. One of many radiated shannies spotted on this dive. Not sure what was going on, but many were out in the open.

A short bigeye makes a fall appearance in the warm New England waters Hake are a fairly common find on night dives, but this one had a skeleton shrimp on its side (weird!)
