"The Stories we Share" was my subject for the Stronger Roots Conference in Prague yesterday. Incredibly inspiring to hear so many stories of hope from these champions of democracy, freedom, and a just and empathetic civil society.

On the Eurostar, preparing a training for the A-MAZING young activists of Bite Back. Their #CommercialBreak campaign is pure campaign improv: they flipped the refusal to run their award-winning ads into a people-powered pivot. #EverythingIsAGift

Paramount cancels Colbert for "financial" reasons. In unrelated news, Paramount's Star Trek has cast a new Captain, with Donald Trump set "to boldly go someplace where, frankly, a lot of people tell me, a lot of people, that nobody, and I mean nobody, has ever gone before."

My personal definition of a civilized city: not just no need for a car, but the same care and attention for the alternatives that car infrastructure gets.

Shouldn't he be vowing to reward Republicans who show a spine? Money shouldn't be the determining factor in an election, but if you're gonna wield it, wield it to reward integrity rather than a cudgel to do what you demand.

Canva Ads: Phil Agnew cites these as examples of "𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠...the idea that people judge value by the 𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 that went into something." They're also very clever, which makes my heart sing more than the cost.

This is what courage looks like. Don't let tyrants redefine protest as insurrection.

The Land of Hope and Dreams vs Make America Great Again.
Great piece on two competing visions of the US.

Did I ever tell you about the time I fell out of a hot air balloon? If you're in Amsterdam, you can hear the whole story this Friday at the Tell Amsterdam storytelling night at #BoomChicago

I've said it before and I'll say it again: the comments section of the NYT's Connections Puzzle may be the last vestige of my hope for America. ❤️🦋 #Connections @NewYorkTimes

An Activist, a person with diabetes, and a comedian walk into a bar...

Beth Strachan and I do a podcast about How Dancing Fox teamed up with diaTribe to shift cultural narratives around diabetes with sketch comedy and stand up 🥸

I recently played a conspiracy-spouting rooster hawking quack cures for bird flu at #BoomChicago. 💥🐓💉

People, I swear: comedy is an undervalued 🐴 Trojan Horse of truth 🐴, improv is an activist's best skill set, and there was a time it saved my ass:

Rümeysa Öztürk, a Turkish woman on a student visa, was grabbed near XKCD author Randall Munroe's home by 6 masked plainclothes agents and sent to detention in Louisiana. Her apparent crime: she signed an article protesting Tuft University's handling of protests over Gaza.

A community that didn't have a basketball team because of high rates of asthma, how they stopped what would have been the world's largest trash incinerator, and why you've never heard that story.

For second year in a row, Iceland won't kill whales this season. Meanwhile, the whale watching industry thrives. Andrew Davies hatched the idea of a reverse boycott in 2004: a pledge to visit Iceland if whaling stopped. Sometimes campaigns take decades.

Empathy isn't weakness, Elon. The expansion of empathy in ever widening circles to people beyond the borders of ourselves, our family, our tribe, our race, our nation, and our species is the core measure of humanity's progress.

Does anyone else read the comments for the NYT's Connections puzzle? I love the puzzle, but I ADORE the comments. It's such an oasis of positive idle chit chat and encouragement and collaborative creativity. It's a perfect little desert island in a toxic digital sea. #Connections
