What do you mean, you want the rules?

That sounds awesome! :-)

The elves. See the article on Elfball, White Dwarf #63, 1985, if you have access to that.

I would have picked up two of these but sadly not in stock in the UK :-(

RQG often emphasises credibility for the character group. It can strain credibility to have a very diverse group of PCs with no obvious bond (this isn't just RQG, of course). There can be a tension between player expectations, GM expectations, and how those are resolved while satisfying credibility.

Generally, I'm curious as to what people want to do but find they can't. Were the choices restricted because of the rules (lack of character creation information), or the setting (no you can't play a half-orc because the setting doesn't have orcs), or something else?

It's easy to generate a human from the core rules (RQG version). Or a non-human using the Bestiary or some of the other supplements (e.g. Newtlings and Wind Children are in the Dragon Pass book). Example non-human pre-gens are also available: www.chaosium.com/blogout-now-...
Out now and free for RuneQuest! Elder Race Adventurers
Available as a free download! The Elder races of Glorantha are far more distinctive and unique than non-human characters found in many other fantasy settings.

Excellent!

There was chain mail armour in RQ2. It isn't present in RQG.

Minor correction: looks like his name was spelled wrong in Backstab, I believe it should be Allen (or possible Allan) Dalcher.

Greg also told this story in an interview with Backstab magazine (2000), where he notes that Brian Crist was specifically a big fan of Uncle Scrooge. He also mentioned Bill Johnston as the source of Jonstown, and Allen Dachur for Alda Chur.

I get an "access denied" message for that link ...

I can see how my earlier comment might be mis-read: read "after" for "beyond", for clarity.

I didn't say this is why ducks were added to RQ: they were a comic idea that pandered to his friends. However, after he saw how players reacted to them in the game, I believe he evolved a different approach (cf. the "duck hunts"). It wasn't the only way he thought about prejudice in the setting.

I think one of Greg Stafford's aims, beyond the initial amusement value, was to use the ducks as a lever to expose lazy prejudice. Still a live issue, it seems :-)

Duck character creation rules? At last RuneQuest finally fulfils its early promise. Blackfeather approves!

Out of the Suitcase #2: Ducks, Ducks, and more Ducks
Over on the RuneQuest Facebook group there's recently been a wonderful, fragmented discussion of the origins of Ducks in Glorantha recently. I thought I'd spend a little free time writing down what I ...
