Handful of candy caps (Lactarius rubidus) in golden hour light. When dried these mushrooms smell strongly of maple because the contain the lactone Sotolon #mycology #biochemistry

These are scaber stalks or Leccinum, known for the small granular black dots on the stem/stipe of the mushroom. They are very popular in Europe but largely ignored as edibles in America

Found some gorgeous Hemlock Varnish Shelf (Ganoderma tsugae) here on Rockport, can be dried and powdered to use medicinally

Spring/Summer mushroom season in the mountains of California
Butter Boletes (Butyriboletus primiregius) and Spring Kings (Boletus rex-veris) are some of my favorite edible mushrooms

Took a quick trip up to Mount Shasta to do some mushroom hunting. It's a bit of spotty season, but still found a good selection of Butter Boletes and Spring Kings
