A primary message of mine in running against Sen. John Hickenlooper is the failure of too many congressional Democrats to use their platforms to generate opposition to Trump's destruction of our system of government. Hickenlooper is a case in point.

US Senators should lead the way in defending Democratic priorities, not wait for direction from on high.

Where are Democratic versions of ads like that defending OUR positions? Democrats have minimal power in Congress but still maintain an impressive ability to message and shape public perception, but that power seems to be unused or poorly used.

I see efforts by various individuals and groups, but not the massive coordination necessary to shift public perception in a shorter timeframe. I saw a Youtube ad yesterday that tried to debunk the Medicaid cuts, and though it was dishonest, it was effective.

But I think it also points to a need for a media/public outreach campaign by Democrats in Congress and at all levels of government to make sure that every American understands how Donald Trump is dismantling our democracy and making people's lives so much harder.

There was reporting today that Trump didn't seem to understand the effects of the expiring ACA subsidies. Perhaps that holds out hope that the subsidies will be restored.
