Talking about Africa, photography, and storytelling—with my framed canvas prints setting the scene behind me. Honoured to be invited by Lionstudiosframing to judge the local print exhibition. So much talent and heart from our local photographers. Moments like these remind me why we do what we do.
What catches your eye first, the rusty chain or the sunburst peeking through?

I stopped by Bellingen at sunset to capture these old iron objects at the Old Butter Factory. Using my 35mm macro lens, I explored different compositions, and this one stood out because of the light.

I visited the Cathedral area and it happened to capture the stunning beauty of Cathedral Pines, where old pine trees were saved from being cut down in 1900. I was amazed by the beautiful light shining through the trees, creating a magical starburst effect.

A Highland cow triptych. A little Photoshop framing made the scene even more timeless.

On my drive home from photographing dingoes at sunrise, golden rays broke through the trees at Hawks Nest Golf Course. I waited 30 minutes for the perfect moment, until a lone golfer stepped in and completed the shot. ☺️

Do you think the patience paid off?

How incredible it is that the same Creator painted both the moon and the sun, one glowing softly in silence, the other blazing with life.
Each is so different, yet both remind us of the beauty only nature could design.

What a wonderful world the Creator has crafted for us to see and capture.

What captures your heart more — a sunset over the sea or one glowing above the city?
Both tell a story of peace, but in such different ways.
I couldn’t choose, so I captured both. 😍

In black and white, the world is distilled to its purest form. This photograph reveals the serene beauty of a rocky shoreline, where the silky waves meet the steadfast mountain. B&W photography unveils the soul of the scene, highlighting its raw and captivating essence.

The first shot captures the raw drama of lightning in timeless black and white, pure energy stripped to its essence.

The second reveals the storm’s full fury in colour, glowing with electric blues and purples across the sky.

Which version pulls you in more?

Sydney radiates calm elegance, the Ferris wheel glowing gently under twilight’s blue hush.
Las Vegas, on the other hand, pulses with energy, neon lights, motion trails, and pure vibrance.
Two cities, two moods.

Which one speaks to you more, the calm or the chaos?

One blazes like a dream in flames,
The other glows like a soft farewell.
Both remind us the sky never repeats itself.

Which sunset pulls you in more, the fiery red horizon or the soft pastel glow over calm waters?

Just had to share this close-up shot of the beautiful flannel flowers. This is called macro photography – it really brings out the tiny details that we often overlook. There’s wonder in the tiniest things. ☺️

What happens when light becomes your only paintbrush?
Black & white photography reveals the emotion behind the structure, turning buildings into living art. ☺️

Different nights. Different places. One same sky full of wonder.
First — a peaceful new moon night camping on a farm with my wife.
Second — Crowdy Head Lighthouse, standing tall since 1878, beneath the same endless stars.

Does the night sky make you feel calm or curious?

Both taken at the same beach, same sunset but seen in two different ways.
One moment, I focused on the tiniest reflection in a bubble. Next, I let the ocean move freely through the frame.

Isn’t it amazing how one place can tell two completely different stories?

Chasing light and motion.. The sea never stays still
This morning, the golden glow met the rolling wave for just a second… and I was lucky enough to catch that fleeting harmony.
Moments like this remind me why I keep going back to the ocean.

What’s the place that always pulls you back?

Balancing between chaos and control, that’s what this shot is all about. A long exposure that reveals the unseen: the pattern of heat, the shape of rhythm, the heartbeat of a performer lost in his element. ☺️

The more time I spend with elephants, the more I see how nature mirrors our lives' strength in struggle, calm in stillness, and unity in togetherness. Photography is my way of listening to those lessons.

What’s the most powerful moment nature has ever taught you?

In monochrome, the succulent feels sculpted in stone pure form, timeless and calm.

In colour, bees and bloom burst with life fiery red, golden pollen, energy mid-flight.

One stretches across calm blue waters, the other winds deep into the heart of the forest. Both carry their own kind of beauty, the open sea or endless green.
Different journeys, yet both carry the same sense of wonder.

Which path speaks to you most, Land or Water?

This leopard paused for just a moment, its piercing gaze cutting through the grasslands as the last light of day softened the scene.

Did you know?
Leopards have incredible night vision, up to seven times better than humans, making them expert hunters in the dark.

Perched quietly, yet watching everything. This little owl carried an intensity in its gaze that stopped me in my tracks.

Did you know? The Spotted Owlet’s large yellow eyes are perfectly adapted for night vision, allowing it to spot prey even in near darkness.

There’s a fine line between fear and fascination. Sitting in that jeep, just meters away from a lioness, you feel both at once. And that’s the beauty of safari, being humbled by nature’s presence. ☺️

If you had the chance, would you dare to get this close?
