Any Paleo preparators with experience using glass beads and butvar as a filler material for large broken bones?
Question for the Paleo preparator crowd: have you used glass beads in conjunction with high wt/volume vinac solutions(70-80%)? I have a hadrosaur femur that is broken in the midshaft and replacing the eroded material seems like it won't be enough. I want to give it more structural integrity

Completely unsurprised at Jack Horner in the Epstein files. He's been a known predator for a long time and my first (and only) interaction with him was him making a sex joke. Maybe SVP needs to consider taking away his Romer-Simpson award. It does not send a good message to young scientists.

On this #FossilFriday, I've finished the second attempt at a jacket on the way to restoring this broken hadrosaur femur. The specimen cracked under its own weight and once it finishes curing, I'll work on the rest of the clamshell to start restoration!

I'm thinking about getting a tattoo of the grain size chart. Should I just be responsible and keep it in my wallet, or should I make sure it's physically impossible to lose my grain size chart? (already planning scale bar on the finger, don't you worry about that)

@hankgreen.bsky.social am I correct that there is not a sci show episode on Hox genes? If so, I'm simply baffled that you haven't talked about how ridiculous (and cool!) it is that we made fruit flies with legs instead of antennae, with two thoraxes, or the double butt flies.

The industrial revolution was not intentionally burning coal to warm the planet, they did it for efficiency sake. However, oil and gas has known their product contributed to climate change for over 60 years and put forth active disinformation campaigns. Don't let them off the hook.

Boy, I sure didn't expect a viral tweet and Rolling Stones reaching out for shitting on Colossal Biosciences. What a day.

Everything happening can be chalked up to "to the privileged, equality feels like oppression." White men have been fine with others getting the short end of the stick, but someone spends their life honing their skills getting a position they deserve infuriates these children

My piece of shit representative, Michael Baumgartner, has changed his staffers to voicemail only. It's pathetic and cowardly and every day he remains inactive for the people he represents, I am more and more emboldened to run as a pro labor independent and fight for washington.

We need to abolish the current bipartisan party. The wealthy elite win when working class Dems and reps fight and squabble, all while billionaires get richer. America needs a labor party that fights for the rights of working class. This is class warfare and we have no voice.

Nothing better than calling your parents to voice your concern and fear over what is happening and then being told you are simply thinking too negatively. I wish they could understand that their anti-negativity stance just made it so they have never been and continue to not be safe to talk to.

The hardest part of telling intro bio students that <5% of our genome behaves under mendelian laws of inheritance, is that I have to show them a snippet of quantitative genetics to explain the other 95%, and that is very frightening to the young scholar.

Today, on this Darwin's birthday, I gave a 50 minute lecture solely on T. rex. I will always advocate the lil critters, but we gotta pay respects where due! If my students learned one thing, I hope it's this

Early career researchers, I love you dearly. But if you keep putting "crown *completely extinct clade*" I'm gonna start adding increasingly distressed gifs to my review document.

Working with a therapist who moves out of network is a nightmare. Insurance denies everything claiming you can just get service elsewhere, when in reality you're doing trauma therapy consistently for the past year and starting over with someone new is not recommended. Just evil corporations.

I'm editing a paper, and I can't help but feel like I should be able to put gifs as comments.

I swear Christopher Walken writes every paper I'm on (it's me, I'm the problem, it's, me).

Why are the ads for horror movies never skippable? Some people don't wanna see that stuff and it seems unfair to subject them to it without an option to skip.
