FWIW: I hate social media.
You say this as if you never participated in that yourself.

This took up my entire train ride from Philly to the Bronx—SEPTA to NJT to the 1 train. I’ve saved this post so I can pick up where I (and apparently you) left off.

I've been doing Thanksgiving my entire life as an American, and very rarely (if ever) have I heard people "naming the things
we’re grateful for." It's more about "indulging in gluttony" and "talking about all the money you'll spend in December." I used to enjoy Thanksgiving, but no longer.

Aw, man. My dad (and TBH I too) would love to be in your shoes right now. My dad, last night: "There are too many people in my house right now, and I'm trying to hide my agita." Me: "I gotta go to NYC to spend T'giving w/ my gal and her family."
You can take both our places if you'd like.

I never give $$ when I get those emails. I respond with "stop" or "unsub." In the case of my senator--useless, lazy, odious @fetterman.senate.gov--I call back, read the email to staff, and ask/explain why the claims don't match up w/ the actions. Then I tell them my $$ goes to his primary opponent.

PS: "I wanna go hoooooome."
Yup, I'll bet you do. But guess what: YOU made this choice for yourself. You've been in school since kindergarten. You know the rules: we had a whole assembly, and then another, and then ANOTHER about just this topic. Make better choices next time.

I remember being in these circumstances myself back in the day, and for just as well-deserved reasons. Act right, you get to have fun. #growingpains 8/end

They are bored, restless, and frustrated, bc they're not getting the "annoyed teacher" feedback they thrive on. Every time the school secretary calls for another rotation--the eligible kids go room to room doing fun stuff--it's a gut punch. 7/several

Meanwhile, I am 1000% enjoying my day babysitting these high schoolers (mostly 9th graders) enjoy the consequences of their actions. They may have their phones--but they can't participate, need an escort to use the BR, and have to hear their right-acting friends having fun all day. 6/several
