Yep, that’s a (thankfully) dead Black Widow spider. Yep, it was living in the edges by my front door screen. Yessiree, that’s a Black Widow spider… I’m fine… really…

Vetting Followers: another “winner” in the falsified identity game: (seriously folks, reverse-image search is your friend and doesn’t take a lot of time.)

Vetting followers: a few weeks ago, I started using G’s Image Search for any new “follower” that included anything resembling a personal image. So far, almost every one has come up as a data-mined image with no relationship to any specific person. E.g. (see image & search results)

New scam attempt dropped. Recvd email saying it was from the SocSecAdmin’s Ofc of Inspector General informing me my SSN had “suspicious inconsistencies” gave # to call & had an iCal link/doc. It was NOT from SSA-OIG, was not their ph# (cell phone in MO). Didn’t open link/call#; reported scam to SSA.

Holy Shit! Look at this fire map of California. Many of these events were started by last weekend’s lightening storms (dry lightening/no rain). Yikes!!

Wanted to look up Jeff Goldblum’s age when filming Jurassic Park. Was served this astounding outlay from an LLM “overview” about his marriage. Stunningly, it points out that their age difference is the same now as when they married. GTFOH? You don’t say! (Psst: it’s not intelligence.)

I love the way last night’s limoncello sunset reflected on the clouds. The lower tier clearly shows the limey-yellow, while the upper tier is still tinged with pink. Lovely!

His Lordship of Silkiness is convinced it is bedtime. This is him staring at the hallway, which leads to the bedroom, where we experience the condition known as “bedtime.” LOL

Found a somewhat roundish piece of obsidian in the backyard a few days ago. (There are several “extinct” volcanoes nearby.) Decided to see if I could make it into something, ground down the roughest edges & started polishing. It’s become my favorite object to hold in my hand. (Clippers for scale)

Me: are you sure?
Her: Yes, absolutely
M: will you get in trouble?
H: No, everything in this section is my baby.
M: Well then, yes, I would pay $0.50.

She updates the price as agreed & we go our own ways.

Those tongs are now my favorite kitchen item. Perfect for the toaster! Happy Accident.

Imagine my surprise to learn that I was automatically “subscribed” to a propaganda email series from Dr. O z, on behalf of Medicare. Followed instructions to unsubscribe-not easy. It took four attempts to complete. If you have an online Medicare account, check your communication preferences!

The term “weather manipulation” in modern conspiracy-world tends to refer to Definition #2&3. Yes, cloud seeding is an attempt to manually elicit a bit more water from existing clouds. Good/bad? who knows for sure in long term. But simply affecting your environment is not always evil.

Oh! Garden update!! This heat wave was cooking my recently-planted flower garden, so a solution to the excessive temps was required. Local hardware store had an affordable “hoop house” option and 50%-block, white, landscape shade “cloth”. Set those up on the two flower planters, a total win.

Flowers from my garden, Gerbera Daisy x2 & Zinnia. These plants were all recently installed into the yard I cleared of waist-high, edge-to-edge weeds. Unfortunately, earwigs have destroyed every attempt at planting Marigolds. Bummer-really wanted the Marigolds for their mosquito-repellant power.

It doesn’t look pretty in this photo. It’s packaged for the freezer. This part doesn’t have the strawberry, just peaches, splash of pure vanilla extract, tiny pinch of salt & a couple tablespoons of 1/2&1/2. No sugar added-didn’t need any sweetener at all.

Was looking for an easy-to-install visual barrier to shield this ugly propane tank that dominates the upper tier of the backyard. Expensive. Decided to try cheapest solution first - a scrub brush, biodegradable soap & water. SOOO much better! (Still want a barrier, but not as urgently.)

pretty pleased with the way the backyard is shaping up. the intense sunshine on the three upper planter boxes is presenting some challenges for plant-plans. 110degrees in summer is common.

Romeo kept interfering with weed-pulling as the volume of grass reduced. I left some for him.

This flower is blooming on a succulent in the backyard. I don’t know what exact succulent it is (by name, that is) and my plant-ID app misassigns the flower to a completely different type of plant. Anyone have any clues about ID? #PlantSky

Weed-a-geddon Update: the only remaining areas to address are a few ground-level burr nests & a bit of burr clover. All of the foxtails are gone! My knees+back are super mad at me and my hands are almost useless. But we’re much closer to a safe backyard for Romeo. (Dreading the front yard…)
