A chart of change in electricity generation in the WEM between 2024 and 2025 showing a year on year rise in coal output of ~150 gigawatt hours, a rise in combined cycle gas output of ~500 gigawatt hours reversing the change from 2023/24, a drop in open cycle gas output of ~900 gigawatts hours also reversing the trend from 2023/24, a rise in rooftop solar of ~800 gigawatt hours, a rise in wind power of ~100 gigawatt hours and a rise in battery discharge of ~400 gigawatt hours. A chart of change in electricity generation in the WEM in 2025 for each energy source per month relative to the previous year, showing variable change in coal use month to month. Open cycle gas use decline for most of the year. Combined cycle gas use was higher for a large proportion of the year. Rooftop solar was higher across the year given the steady increase in installs and wind power was quite variable month to month. Utility scale solar increased due to the commissioning of the Cunderdin facility. Battery discharge increased significantly relative to 2024 as new assets in Kwinana and Collie were commissioned and reached full output.
