They're planning to rent two trailers with a total of 8 toilets, enough for up to 200 personnel, based on the 1:25 standard the Army has traditionally used for planning. 2/

Unfortunately, none of this is surprising. Just like CoreCivic, Stride has built a business model around taking taxpayer money while cutting corners and putting profit ahead of the people it's supposed to serve.

Birds of a feather.

A chart in the letter, which is signed by the Huntsville ISD Superintendent and a Stride VP, claims that 51% of the school’s 3rd graders met reading standards and 24% met math standards.

The reality is even worse: in spring 2025, only 21% met reading standards and just 10% met math standards. 5/

In October, Stride wrote to TOPS parents to advise them of the school's closure and "assist in exploring future enrollment options" — including another of its failing schools, Texas Virtual Academy at Hallsville.

Vanessa Lhotka-Meyer, who serves on the City Council, "suspects that about 80%-90% of the people in Appleton fall into the category of wanting ICE to use the prison. She’s more torn, having been around to see the prison’s economic benefits while having moral reservations about ICE."
Appleton residents weigh value of potential ICE detention center
Appleton’s private prison, once the town's biggest employer, has sat unused for 15 years. The Trump administration might have plans for it.

My 2¢ on talking about 287(g) partnerships:

There are a lot of compelling reasons for local law enforcement agencies not to partner with ICE, but our arguments should start and end with the shared value of safety. *Everyone* wants safer communities.

Currently out of stock, but worth keeping an eye out for another printing. So good.
Who Shares the Restroom Code with ICE Agents? (3rd printing)
This collection of questions is an invitation to think about situations we may encounter with ICE, a poetic rant against ICE, and a provocation for ICE’s allies.
