OMG, give the corporate execs the recognition they actually deserve. I love it!

Eh, math in gamedev is a bit like Roman concrete. At a certain point, you forget why it works the way it does, but is it really important as long as you know it just works?

Heck yeah. I need to get back into my language lessons. I only speak conversational Spanish: not yet fluent. Really want to learn Arabic and Mandarin Chinese. I once heard someone say if you speak English, Spanish, Arabic, and Mandarin, you can communicate with anyone anywhere. I'm gonna test that.

Honestly, I joked about it in 2024, but I just might. Besides, the game industry is just as strong (if not stronger) in Vancouver and Montreal as it is in Seattle and Los Angeles.

I'm just glad there *is* a Freelancing Committee. Freelancing kept me going since I started working in the industry, and it's frankly the only thing that kept me alive in 2024. Do I want a studio role? Of course, what entry-to-mid-level dev doesn't, but some help for freelancers is always welcome.

Honestly surprised it hasn't crashed already after Sam Altman got subpoenaed live onstage. Agreed: it's when, not if, the bubble bursts.

It makes me think about the Holocaust, and some in concentration camps arguing it couldn't get worse because the Nazis had become completely dependent on slave labor. Why would Germany kill their own economy during *a war*?? They couldn't conceive that fanatic ideology could trump human rationality.

Ooh, I do love when game design or puzzles are interwoven with a fable or myth. It really scratches that The Witcher 3 itch by making players really analyze and sort truth from fiction.

Wait, Commander Shepard is a Vladivostok fan? ⚾ (Yes, that is a lore deep cut, but I'm sticking with it!)

Hope you're enjoying your trip!

Our industry does have peer-voted awards, the most visible being DICE, Game Developers Choice Awards, BAFTA. There are scores of smaller developer-led awards too. We do have spaces to celebrate and uplift one another, please support and watch these shows! The teams work hard for the devs!
