Finally, Ondrej developed a very cool genetic cell-ablation tool based on tissue-specific induction of the murine pro-apoptotic factor mBax. It’s extremely useful when your confocal laser can’t reach internal tissues for laser ablation. 5/6

The other part of this argument that annoys me is that 'eating animals will mean less eating of plants'. 90% of energy is lost at every trophic level so 10x the plants are eaten if you eat animals. It's the food pyramid, we teach it at school.

The problem is compounded with ratio imaging. With my biosensor, different tissue layers have different concentrations of the ligand, and will give drastically different emission ratios. This info is lost in projection images.

I've never managed to convince anyone to do Physco or ferns.
The closest is liverworts- @dromius.bsky.social and @davidjhoey.bsky.social tried it in Marchantia, with some promising initial results, so I think bryophytes are feasible, but I'm not sure if they've continued pursuing it.
