When we were planning the August edition of @protocolsforpublishers.com we knew that being in the US wasn’t going to work for a lot of people.

@chadkoh.com is running with it & now has set a date for London in early February.

On compute as a commodity “people might be open to a new bespoke pickle vendor. So we're pickling some compute and selling that.”

And

The team at @oxide.computer have company docs on how they expect LLMs to be used https://semble.so/url?id=https://rfd.shared.oxide.computer/rfd/0576

Pairs nicely (and links to) @bcantrill.bsky.social’s post on using LLMs to write for you on LinkedIn […]

Lots of great lines in this post by @bf.wtf

It was amazing working with A. Woodward on "Goosetopher2", now called Goodstuff.

Do I want new geese mascot every year? I mean...

I highly recommend Redwall Feasts Bot.

What I wouldn’t give for “mixed berry cordial brewed by the hedgehogs”

The Bonfire team have met their first “maintenance” fundraising goal. The next stretch goal is designing and shipping federated groups.

There is lots of good writing in this post about the needs of different types of groups […]

Happy holidays, fediverse!

I got you a megathrust earthquake, soil liquefaction, spine-tingling papers about the way our networks confound knowledge, and a PDF in a pear tree. It's my wrap on a year of trying to make sense of how we make sense of what's happening to us […]

I’m London ON for some family health stuff.

We ended up at The Bombay Vibes thebombayvibes.ca - in a little strip mall next to / inside of an indian grocery store.

I had panj puri for the first time, aloo tikki chaat, samosas, and paneer tikka masala with rice and garlic naan.

Very good! […]

Is “Resonant Computing” malleable software with a positive ideology applied?

I still haven’t found an umbrella term that captures Causal Islands, Ink & Switch, and similar vibes.

Shades of DWeb principles too.

I’ll keep hosting events that point us in this direction.

Railway is technically a PaaS (like Heroku). “serverless” because you don’t have to maintain the operating system. They have evolved buildpacks to Railpacks which will create containers on the fly.

OR you can use it as a Docker host

They are hosting their own bare metal servers. Recommended! […]

Ian @iansu is a technical leader who is looking for a new role. He’s built a number of “full stack” things from scratch and has a recent security designation.

Please share if you know of companies that could benefit from his skill set. https://cosocial.ca/@iansu/115748381968706376

Today marks one year since I left Neo. I posted some reflections on 2025 over on LinkedIn but the short version is I’m trying to figure out what I want to do next in 2026. I’m open to a range of opportunities. Consulting or contract work, fractional CTO/CISO roles or the right full-time position. In-person in Calgary or remote. If you know of something interesting, or just want to catch up, send me a message! https://www.linkedin.com/posts/iansu_today-marks-one-year-since-i-left-neo-i-activity-7407894450171158528-Iq93

Where should we recommend events & community host long videos that isn't YouTube?

* Vimeo - paid, embeds work, recently acquired is a bad sign
* @archive.org - free, no embeds
* Bunny - paid, lots of options including APIs, no embeds
* Peertube - self-hosted, no embeds

(I should make sure we have googly eyes at the conference)
