Be gentle with yourself as you grieve. And I hope that you find some comfort in the memories you made with Jax and the other animals who have been a part of your life before him.

I’m so sorry. They take up so much more room in our hearts and our lives than they ever could in our houses or on our furniture.

The most difficult part of having family members who are furry is knowing that it’s likely we will live them. The grief is very real.

The thing is that eventually, once they run out of external enemies, their need to have an enemy in order to justify their own behaviours means they will turn on each other.

Eventually, in the process of destroying each other, they’ll blow the top off the mountain they’re standing on.

Dear, Danielle -

That money is coming out of your budget because taxpayers gave you that money to put in your budget.

The way that this works, then, is that you take the money you collected from taxpayers, and you provide the taxpayers with the services.

Hope this helps.

To understand it, we need to flip it.

In real life, all too often, there is no moral or ethical “ending” where the vile people get their comeuppance.

And so, we human beings (being the storytelling ape), gravitate towards stories where there is an ethically satisfying ending. It’s aspirational.

… that they will never have enough, that they can never be powerful enough, that none of the things or the influence they have will ever be enough, that they have convinced themselves (and most importantly have convinced their followers), that they are the Lion at the Gate, the true protectors. 🤮

Frightening, yes, but they don’t have the capacity to recognize how many of their actions are driven by fear. And so they hide it by claiming that these words are irrelevant, or that these words are dangerous to some sort of imaginary idealized “way of life“.

They are so driven by the fear
December 13, 2025 at 5:16 PM
Same. And I find I am entirely OK with that lack of knowledge.

From the little bits, I can clean, nothing about my life, would improve by being able to identify her, or knowing what this book is supposed to be about.

They are just the pus, not the underlying infection.

But they are greedy, ruthless pus, and there seems to be an unending supply of them. 😣

Then I realize that someone else would come along, turn it into the Hunger Games, or any other dystopian variation on death games - people would watch it as entertainment and we’d have to face the fact that these people are a symptom of the underlying problems, not the causes.

Since he is so often assuage by things that are entirely imaginary, I can’t help but wish for the holodecks decks of Star Trek.

Can you imagine? We’ve just put them all in a great big reality created by their delusions.

Even more, “Quelle surprise!”
December 11, 2025 at 3:06 AM
Fair enough, but I was responding to the comment that specifically referred to the Framers of the American Constitution.

This isn’t looking at the past through a modern lens. The authoritarianism and elitism we’re both talking about is a common pattern of human governance throughout history.

I think your karma has been struck yet because he knows that the hits are just gonna keep coming.

Like karma is sitting there with one of those little handheld button counters. It doesn’t have time to actually jump into action because it hasn’t yet had the opportunity to stop counting.
December 10, 2025 at 8:52 PM
That’s very true.

I hope that you find tremendous purpose and joy in your art, and you have a community of people who appreciate your work.

One of the things that I love about the arts is that there’s more than one something for everyone. And differences of opinion can be a healthy part of it.

It was variations on the theme of claiming that slavery is a social ill that needed to be abolished, but not too quickly, and not right then, because some of them didn’t wanna have to give up their own slaves.

They kept the ideals as lofty goals, pretending to pursue ‘em to distract from reality.
December 10, 2025 at 2:49 AM
I’d question whether they actually thought about whether it would be good for everyone, or whether they just figured it would be good enough for them to maintain their own lifestyles/priorities.

They claimed lofty ideals, but avoided taking action that would make them too uncomfortable.

So, yes, you absolutely have the freedom of to your opinion, as I do with mine. And you have the freedom to be snarky and dismissive about things that you don’t find personally appealing, even if those things take nothing from you or anyone else whatsoever.

If you like the music, it’s available 🚫💃🏻
December 9, 2025 at 3:15 PM
My point was that it isn’t a gimmick for a single video.

This is her form as an artist.

I genuinely don’t understand why people, seeing something they don’t personally find appealing, have to denigrate it.

There are other choices, including just scrolling past or finding something that appeals.
December 9, 2025 at 3:15 PM
… or respond to your expression of your opinion.

Your comment suggested that this video was essentially sort of a gimmick that didn’t appeal to your personal taste.

If you like her violin work, but you don’t like the dancing, her work is available on a number of music streaming platforms.
December 9, 2025 at 3:15 PM
… leave a snarky or disparaging comment on a piece of content that doesn’t impact them in any way, shape, or form.

You’re absolutely free to have your opinion, and, yes, to express it.

When you express it on a public platform, other people have an equal freedom to make observations or
December 9, 2025 at 3:15 PM
I acknowledged that both times. Both times are very specifically said that this might not be to your taste.

What I don’t understand as a general rule, and it’s not just this instance or your opinion on this video, is why people feel the need to

It’s rare enough that any of the reporters call him out. But among those rarities, it appears that it’s more often female journalists.

I love that he hates that.

Funny how quickly the whole notion/claim of Christianity being at the heart of all of what the GOP is doing right now flies right out the window like a failed Russian asset the moment a church does something they don’t like.

It’s almost miraculous.

She doesn’t really care that he crossed the line. She was completely on board with all of the other lines. He crossed.

What she cares about was that she figured that this would play well with voters on both sides.

She hasn’t turned over a new leaf. She just knows he’s a sinking ship.
